The Inescapable Relationship between all things

We like to think of ourselves as separate and distinct entities. But, if we could look beyond the limitations of our eyes and sensibilities, we would discover a whole universe within a universe within a universe.

In fact, nothing exists without intimately touching and affecting all else around it. From the tiniest atoms vibrating within our body to our family, our community, our culture, and on to the macrocosmic universe, we are all invisibly connected by a continual transfer of energy and consciousness.

No thing can exist in complete isolation. No thing can exist without the silent support, co-operation, and interdependence of all else around it.

When we look at our body, we define it in terms of individual parts—hands, feet, eyes, ears, organs, brain. We recognize that each part is attached to another. But, do we really understand the complex and minute connections and interactions between seemingly unrelated parts of our body?

For instance, the iris or coloured portion of your eye is only about 1/2" in diameter. Yet, there are approximately 2,500 fibres within each iris, every one connecting to a separate part of your body. As your health changes, the fibres reflect this, changing the colour and design pattern within your iris. The study of this amazing phenomenon has developed into a science known as Iridology.

Meridians, neural pathways, and reflex terminals create a complex energy network throughout the body. Each of these energy conduits has its own route that passes through organs, traverses the length of the body, ending in the extremities. Mapping the pathways of these energy conduits helps us to connect diseases that seem to be unrelated.

For instance, sores inside the nose can indicate a problem with the gall bladder. Why? Because the gall bladder meridian passes through the nose. This is why therapies designed to stimulate the body’s energy channels, such as Acupuncture and Reflexology, can be highly effective, even though they do not actually touch the affected spot.

Even the teeth are connected to various organs through meridians located under the roots. A study is now being conducted to determine if there is a correlation between dental problems or metal fillings and disorders elsewhere in the body.

Dr Bernard Jensen discovered there was a relationship between various segments of the intestinal tract and different areas of the body. When part of the intestinal tract was removed, a seemingly unrelated health problem elsewhere in the body would simultaneously clear up.

Even the mind reflects itself in the body. Physical disease quite often accurately mirrors a psychological or emotional state.

For example, the mind digests information just as the physical body assimilates nutrients. A person who has a difficult time assimilating or integrating what is going on in his surrounding environment, whether intellectually or emotionally, will often experience digestive problems.

What does this tell us? It clearly demonstrates that the modern medical model which isolates and treats symptoms of a disorder is flawed in its approach. We need to view disease from an all-encompassing holistic perspective, understanding, respecting and working in co-operation with the complex interactions that occur in the body.

All life forms are genetically programmed for survival. This means the body instinctively seeks to regain its perfect balance when damaged or traumatized. This process needs to be supported and enhanced, not further compromised by chemicals such as drugs, or slash-and-burn procedures such as surgery and radiation.

Psychoneuroimmunology is a new science that has now emerged in response to this understanding. It approaches disease from a perspective of discovering and healing the underlying psychological cause. Once the true cause has been addressed, the physical disease often spontaneously disappears.

Many new types of counseling procedures have evolved to effectively halt disease by eradicating its emotional cause. Energy therapies are equally as effective, since they address consciousness at its atomic level.

By seeing ourselves beyond mere bones and flesh, by understanding how everything around us and all we participate in profoundly affects us, we can begin to see disease as more than an affliction. We can understand it as a physical response to something that is not right in our relationship to the outer world.

This may, in turn lead us to pay more attention to our surroundings, our relationships, our own energies, and to our gut feelings. Look around you at your home, your work environment, your relationships. Do they nurture, comfort and sustain you?

Pay attention to what happens in your heart when you come home, when you are with someone, or when you step out into the world. What can you change, eliminate or enhance so that these elements do contribute to your health and well-being? What can you heal within your heart that will in turn heal your body?~~
