How did cultures thousands of years ago have such a profound intuitive understanding of concepts that we are only now beginning to investigate and understand from a rational, scientific perspective? Until recently most people viewed ancient healing practices with superstition and fear, discounting them as folklore or voodoo medicine and dismissing any possibility of credability.
But, now the wisdom and value of many of these healing principles has become apparent. In fact, many of these ancient techniques have been revealed as far more advanced in concept than orthodox medicine! As a result, advanced medical research is beginning to look to the ancient ways and devise a more high tech approach to them.
Will these innovations prove to be more publicly acceptable than waving a rattle over someone’s body or placing needles in the skin? No doubt. Ancient principles are founded on an understanding of the unseen realms of energy. In a left-brain logical world we seem to need something to be more tangible in order to accept it.
The Chinese have always had the deepest and most profound fundamental understanding of the world and those upon it. They have been studying energy and our relationship to energy for thousands of years. Their observations, experiences and intuitive perceptions have led to exact sciences and specific practices that have now been proven valid.
Acupuncture is probably the best known of these sciences. Acupuncture is based on an understanding that energy flows through our bodies along a network of conduits.
As little as 50 years ago, orthodox medicine denied any possibility of electrical activity in the body. But, medical research has now verified that we do, indeed, possess energy pathways. They are now known as neural pathways—our nervous system.
Thousands of years ago, the Chinese pinpointed hundreds of specific locations where neural pathways passed close to the skin surface. Not only were they able to determine exactly which organs, glands and systems of the body were governed by each of these neural pathways, they also found that stimulation of these points triggered a response along the whole length of the neural pathway, including the organ through which it passed. In this way, they were able to affect a desired result—healing, anesthetic, pain relief, sedative, etc.
What is amazing is that it was only 20 years ago that we finally understood why. Electrical impulses along the neural pathways trigger the release of chemical proteins known as neuro-peptides. More than a thousand different neuro-peptides induce specific physiological responses within the body.
Some peptides are natural opiates which calm pain. Some stimulate the body’s immune functions and self-healing capacity. Some induce the release of hormones. By inducing the body to release certain specific neuro-peptides, one can control healing, pain or any physiological response.
Based on this discovery, Russian scientists developed a small device that can communicate with the neural pathways to induce the desired neuro-peptide release. They called it SCENAR. Yet the Chinese have being doing the same thing for more than 4,000 years!
In addition, a device called Antel has now been invented to detect and illuminate all of the points on the body where the neural pathways pass close to the skin. Amazingly, the illuminated points all correspond exactly to points on an ancient Acupuncture chart!
Antel also emits high frequency waves to stimulate these Acupuncture points. It is virtually needle-free Acupuncture!
Vibrational therapies of various sorts have been practiced for eons. Aboriginal cultures all over the world use drums, rattles and chanting. Tibetan monks use metal singing bowls. Peruvian shamans employ clay whistling vessels. The Chinese use bells or chimes. Various religions use chanting. Virtually every culture uses musical instruments and singing to emotionally affect people. Each of these practices utilizes the principles of vibrational medicine.
Essentially, sound travels in waves. Each sound wave is measured by its length and the number of times it oscillates within a specific distance. The longer the wave, the lower the sound and the greater its amplitude.
Because of the extremely high rate of speed at which they oscillate, sound waves are felt as vibration. Place your hand on a stereo speaker and you will feel the vibration of each note.
At the atomic level, atoms are continually vibrating. Sound waves introduced to atoms will affect their vibrational rate. Strike two different tuning forks together and both will adjust to the same tone. Sound will also stimulate atoms that are vibrating at a similar rate, enhancing their vibration. This is called sympathetic resonance.
For example, hit a tuning fork and the same note will vibrate on a piano, even if it is clear across the room. Hit just the right note and a crystal glass will shatter as the atoms within it become excited.
Sound waves and light waves are very similar. For instance, the colour red has the same long, low frequency and amplitude as an A note.
Centuries ago, Tibetan monks created bowls out of seven specific metals, including meteorite. When made to "sing", these bowls emit a pure clear sound that travels in spiralling waves called Fibinaci spirals. An oscilloscope reveals that there are seven different sound frequencies occuring at the same time. Each one exactly correlates to the colour frequency of a chakra or energy point on the body. It is no co-incidence that DNA is patterned in a Fibinaci spiral.
In a modern twist on this ancient technique, tuning forks are now used to create the same result. Each note of a tuning fork corresponds to frequencies of chakras, neural pathways and our electro-magnetic field. When touched against the body or passed through the electro-magnetic field, a subtle but very profound effect takes place.
The vibration restores inter-cellular communications. As light or sound vibration reaches a cell, the electrons within the cell re-organize. Some absorb photons and jump into higher frequency orbits. Others release photons, causing the electrons to settle back into less excited states.
In both cases, photon-electron communication sets up energy impulses that travel instantly throughout the body. These impulses trigger the release of neuro-peptides.
Although the vibratory qualities of sound or light are subtle, they are more akin to the body’s own subtle vibratory state. As a result, they can often be used even more effectively than manual pressure or needles to apply Acupuncture.
Shamans of most cultures throughout history have used gemstones and quartz crystals in various ways for healing. Stones were laid on parts of the body, or rubbed in the left hand. Sometimes they were soaked in water and the patient directed to drink the water or bath in it.
Until now, this practice seemed mere superstition. However, a study of the gemstones and their specific qualities reveals that shamans were really fore-runners of modern Nutrition Consultants!
Today we know that virtually all disease begins with mineral deficiencies. Minerals provide both nutrient qualities that optimize organ functions, and create the ideal alkaline environment for the body to maintain health. Bacteria and disease thrives in acidic conditions.
Gemstones are comprised of minerals. Shamans selected a specific gemstone for each particular ailment or complaint. For instance, moonstone or amazonite was used for symptoms that relate to glandular or hormonal imbalance. Potassium is the main component of these stones. Peridot was used for symptoms of hormonal imbalances such as hot flashes. Peridot is high in magnesium.
Shamans applied each gemstone in a way that ensured the recipient received its mineral qualities in colloidal or homeopathic form so the cells could immediately benefit. Some stones, such as hematite, magnetite, malachite, turquoise, or lapis lazuli, or chatoyant stones such as tiger eye, were selected for their magnetic qualities. These stones, which contain iron or copper, subtly effect the body’s electro-magnetic field and act as a magnet to draw oxygen-rich hemoglobin to the affected area to heal it.
While we may now use different means to achieve the same results, there is no disputing that our ancestors had wisdom that belied their limited technology. Once the premise behind each ancient practice is understood, these seemingly meaningless acts of folklore or ritual take on a solid level of credability.
In many ways this intuitive understanding of the most subtle and finely tuned aspects of the body is extraordinary. It makes orthodox medicine with its invasive slash and burn modalities, seem almost clumsy and barbaric by comparison. Perhaps, in the overall test of time, some of the old ways may yet be the best ways. Above all, they do no harm.~
